I love fall weddings… The air is cool and crisp
and the leaves are starting to change color which is perfect for outdoor
weddings. Now anytime you have an outdoor wedding in Kansas City you are always
rolling the dice with Mother Nature. But
with a few precautions and a backup plan in place you can ensure that you have
a great wedding day.
First off, you need to make sure that there is
some sort of shelter for your wedding DJ just in case it starts to rain. It’s
not necessarily your responsibility to provide the shelter, but I would
definitely ask the DJ if they have a canopy and make sure the color is appropriate
for your ceremony. A Kansas City Chiefs
pop up tent might not be the look you are going for in your wedding photos.
If it’s
only a light drizzle the mobile dj probably won’t even have to stop the
music. But if the rain or wind starts to
pick up and there is only a 10x10 pop up canopy for shelter the DJ will most likely have to
stop the music as they are working with high end electronics that don’t mix
well with water.
This is where the backup plan comes into play. You
will either need to move the DJ into the center of your large tent or shelter
if possible, or have a secondary venue on standby. This sounds expensive, but it
doesn't have to be.
There are many bar and grill type restaurants that
have side or banquet rooms available to rent out and most of them will be happy
to reserve it for you for a couple hundred dollars. This is a small price to
pay to have a warm, dry place to move you reception in the event of nasty
weather.
Or you could ask relative with a larger house if
you can move the reception there in the in case of emergency. If this situation
arises many of your guests will probably just head home so you don't have to worry about the entire guest list showing up at their house.
With a little bit of careful planning and some
cooperation from the elements I am confident that you can have a beautiful and
dry outdoor wedding.
